The Rundown Toolkit Alert

We wanted to make it easier for you by sharing vetted tools by the Rundown team that we use frequently and recommend. Enjoy.

Bitcoin

A monster day. Bitcoin is moving at a record pace. At this rate, we could be at 60,000 tomorrow. 58,300 is the next resistance level. The factors include: Supply shock. The ETFs are making a huge difference. Institutional buyers like Blackrock and Fidelity have added billions of Bitcoin in the last few weeks. There’s a set supply of bitcoin. The Bitcoin halving event is coming up in mid-April, which will reduce the supply of Bitcoin in the market. (usually BTC pumps after the halving.)

Other amplifying events include:

  • Possible cuts in interest rates,
  • Possible Ethereum ETF
  • It is an election year in the US.

All this means Bitcoin will pump, making it harder for retail investors like us to own one. Do not bet against Bitcoin. HODL and DCA.

I’ll be listing some creator and communications-related Alt Coins (i.e. not Bitcoin) for us to understand what is happening that’s relevant to the future of communications.

AI Toolkit Alert

We wanted to make it a little easier for you by sharing vetted tools by the Rundown team that we like and use frequently in our communications work. We will keep updating these as technologies change and new products hit the market.

The whole collection will be available to our paid subscribers only. We will be sending you the full toolkit soon (this week). We’re also working on our course design and experience at The Rundown.

Pros:

There are tools here that build efficiencies, increase productivity and offer creative ideas. It saves you time.

Cons:

Many are paid. 20 USD seems like a magic number for now. They add up. The tools are still nascent and flawed. It will get better over time. So will costs. It takes time to learn and figure out the best prompts. Weak on Africa data sets and Africa images and video (diffusion models), in particular.

On the Road With Cap Cut

We were able to subtitle quickly for social. We easily fixed the lighting and shadows. All of this was on our mobile phone. And on the move.

One Small Step For The Rundown

I wanted to share this with you. Our modern media academy continues to get built. Pole Pole. Slowly, as we say in Swahili.

Looking Under The Hood. For Real.

It’s intimidating to me. And very uncomfortable. I remind myself that everything I have done has been about the small wins, the mindset, and teaching myself a new habit.

A Warning to African Leaders: Do Not Sell Your Data Sets

As a Kenyan, data nationalism is something I am seriously thinking about. We are in the midst of a new type of colonialism in Africa, this time with our data and information at stake.
